Carson Schwesinger is the current leader to win NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. He has the opportunity to cap off a great year for the Cleveland Browns and bring home the award. He has been all over the field this year as a ballhawk and as a 2nd round rookie it is phenomenal. On the season he has 147 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions and nine QB hits. He a the leader on a defense that also includes Myles Garrett. Showing he has a promising career ahead of him.

Schwesinger used a great junior season to catapult him into the high 2nd round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Last year at UCLA he had 136 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, four sacks and two interceptions. Leading a Bruins defense that progressed throughout the season. Including a good showing that led to a three game Big Ten winning streak after a 1-5 start to the season. Schwesinger was all over the field similar to former Bruin Eric Kendricks in 2014.

UCLA has a rich history of good linebackers.  Schwesinger adds to that list that includes Kendricks, Anthony Barr, Spencer Havner, Jerry Robinson and many more. DROY in the NFL is a great honor. Especially a player that comes out of the 2nd round. It is very common that majority of the awards come from 1st round players. Because they are expected to come in right off the bat and contribute. With the Browns struggling this season they have needed guys to step up and play more. Schwesinger has answered that call and more on a good Browns defense.

There are still two games to play. But it is pointing towards him being able to hold onto the award. Even if his season ended today, he would still be the favorite. He has been that good. He has had seven straight games of double-digit tackles. Also has not had one game under five tackles. The broadcast is constantly calling his name because of his ballhawk tendencies. We always love to see Bruins succeeding in the NFL!
