Azavier Robinson comes over to UCLA for the 2026 season after one season at Butler. He will have three years of eligibility remaining falling on the same timeline as Jaylen Petty and Filip Jović. Providing the Bruins with an opportunity to develop these players over a multi-year time span. Robinson is a guy that is able to shoot the 3-point shot and provides good defense. He averaged 1.5 steals per game in his one season with Butler.

As of right now, it looks like Robinson will come off the bench for the Bruins. But things could easily change as they have two open scholarships remaining. Due to the size that is on the roster right now. UCLA cannot afford to go with a three-guard set. They have to have Dailey Jr. at the three spot and hope that his game continues to grow. Petty is 6’1 and Robinson is 6’2 leaving the two guard spot small.

Robinson will continue to get better in college as he gets more games under his belt. He will come in and immediately provide a good defensive presence for the team. There will be plenty of minutes for him as the first player off of the bench. He averaged 6.1 points, 2.5 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game. Robinson will be a very nice complementary player to add to the mix, which the Bruins did not have off of the bench in 2025.

UCLA’s outlook will change a ton if they can pull off the upset and land Tounde Yessoufou. That will immediately change the starting lineup and could allow UCLA to go smaller at the guard spot. They whiffed on John Blackwell as he landed with Duke last week. Now they need to make this one happen to make themselves a contender in the Big Ten for 2026. Not every recruit is going to be an elite name. Robinson will provide this team with good output at the guard position, especially on defense.
