Aiden Sherrell is a new name that hit the transfer portal today. He is a big man out of Alabama that stands at 6’10 and 240 pounds. He provides a ton of upside as a great defender. Being able to be a rim protector as he blocked 2.2 shots per game this past season for Alabama. After not playing much his freshman year, he got an opportunity his sophomore year and made the most of it with more minutes.

The 6-10 sophomore from Detroit, Michigan averaged 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game. Former McDonald's All-American. https://t.co/8Dw1TaGYtx pic.twitter.com/lfaN4fphVh
There is still a ton of room for improvement. If more minutes are there for him in his new opportunity. He played 23.8 minutes per game this past season and averaged 11.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He started to expand his 3-point shot as well as he shot 33.8% on 2.4 attempts per night. For the season, he shot 53.9% from the field. His growth on offense will continue to get better with more experience.
With two years of eligibility remaining, he has great upside. UCLA could provide him a great opportunity to be a true big man. Something that the Bruins are interested in getting this offseason. Xavier Booker is more of a stretch athletic center. Bringing in an actual center would help the team out a ton. As Booker played his best basketball this past season coming off of the bench.
#Alabama sophomore big Aiden Sherrell is someone I'm really starting to like as a breakout candidate in 2027.

Sherrell's already enjoyed a bit of a breakout in '26, going from 8.8 MPG to 23.6 and leading the SEC in blocks. Would love to see him drop some weight for better… pic.twitter.com/AoATgt77hW
UCLA has the opportunity to be players in the transfer portal market. The domino will fall once the first player decides to transfer. It will give a really good sense of what NIL amount dollars are going to be thrown out. UCLA needs to put an emphasis on a combo guard, wing and traditional center. They have taken care of majority of their needs internally and now look to recruits and transfers to round it all out.
