2009 EagleBank Bowl: Neuheisel’s best season (as head coach)

Rick Neuheisel’s most successful season came in 2009, his second year at the helm when he led UCLA to an EagleBank Bowl win over the Temple Owls 30-21. The Bruins finished the season 7-6, Neuheisel’s first and only winning season.

Temple held a 21-7 lead midway through the second quarter and went into halftime ahead 21-10. UCLA scored 20 unanswered points in the second half, capped off by a two-yard pick-six by Akeem Ayers with 6:01 left in the fourth quarter. A two-point conversion made the game 28-21 and UCLA added a safety.
