2005 Sun Bowl: Another 10-win season
In Year 3 of the Dorrell era, the Bruins found some momentum and nearly got back to the top of the Pac 10 conference. They finished 6-2 in conference play and 9-2 in the regular season, their 10th win came in the Sun Bowl against the Northwestern Wildcats.
The Wildcats shot out to a 22-0 lead in the first quarter, but UCLA took over from that point on. The Bruins got two kickoff return touchdowns in the game on the way to a 50-38 win. They set the record for points in a Sun Bowl.
UCLA running backs Chris Markey and Khalil Bell were named co-MVPs of the game. UCLA finished the year at 10-2 and ranked No. 16 in the country.
