UCLA Football: Position Grades for win over San Diego State
Special Teams: A
The special teams handled their business on Saturday night, plain and simple. RJ Lopez nailed all five of his extra points and Will Powers averaged over 40 yards per punt.
They weren’t asked to do too much, but that was an indicator of a dominant game across the board for UCLA.
Overall Grade: A
UCLA was supposed to win this game, but that doesn’t make their performance any less impressive. They went on the road to a very good program and won in absolutely dominant fashion. It doesn’t get much better than that.
This was a complete team effort. After a season-opener in which many great individual performances didn’t really add to up to equal dominance, this Week Two victory was a sign of everything coming together.
Next week will be another tune-up as the Bruins host North Carolina Central. It’s the final game before UCLA enters the Pac-12 schedule with a massive road trip to Utah on the 23rd. If Saturday night was any indication, this team is ready to roll into Salt Lake.
