Two colleges had three players drafted each and ten universities had two players selected in the 2023 NBA draft.
The NBA draft is an annual event where teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA) select new players to join their teams. The draft is divided into two rounds of 30 picks each, one pick per team. The order of the picks is determined by the standings in the previous season to ensure balance among the franchises.
The draft process begins with the NBA draft lottery, which was held in May. The lottery determines the order of the first four picks in the draft. The teams with the worst records in the previous season have the best odds of winning the lottery.
The remaining 26 picks in the first round are then determined by the inverse order of the teams’ records. The teams that finished with the best records in the previous season have the first picks in the second round.
The draft was held last night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The NBA draft is an important event for both the teams and the players. For the teams, it is an opportunity to acquire new talent and build a championship contender. For the players, it is a chance to realize their dream of playing in the NBA.
