Despite a tumultuous past week, UCLA Football has nabbed another big in-state recruit, this time getting a commitment from 4-star lineman Thomas Cole.
UCLA Football made headlines this week for all the wrong reasons, with players expressing doubt in head coach Chip Kelly’s ability to safely run a program amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
While this would lead some to believe that the Bruins would experience a drop-off in recruiting, that was not the case, as the Bruins picked up their biggest commitment of the summer on Tuesday.
4-star offensive lineman Thomas Cole, the 32nd-best player in the Class of 2021 from the state of California, announced his decision to head to UCLA.
Not only is Cole a big addition to the offensive line, but it is yet another indication of the great job being done by Kelly and his staff to recruit in California. With USC experiencing a down year in recruiting, the Bruins have done an excellent job of nabbing in-state talent, which hopefully will materialize into a winning program in the coming years.
While there might be a good deal of doubt within the program at the moment, the same mentality is clearly not shared by recruits, as UCLA is surely trending upwards in their in-state notoriety amongst prep players.
The Bruins still have some work to do with their 2021 class, but where things stand right now, the Bruins look set to make a run and finish with a great 2021 recruiting haul.
