The UCLA football team welcomes the San Diego State Aztecs to the Rose Bowl for their home opener and look to get another early-season win.

The UCLA football team have quite a demanding schedule in 2019; luckily a few key games will be played at home, giving the Bruins a chance to improve on their 2018 3-9 record.

UCLA Football 2019 Previews: Cincinnati Bearcats

After a game at Cincinnati, the UCLA Bruins return to Pasadena to start their home slate against the San Diego State Aztecs. Depsite a late-season meltdown last season, SDSU is a team that should not be overlooked. I repeat: THEY ARE A TEAM THAT SHOULD NOT BE OVERLOOKED!

Rocky Long is an excellent coach, and he knows how to get the best out of his players, but last year, things fell apart late in the season. The offense was average, the defense (which is their strength) was getting worse, and that resulted in losses in their last four games and losses in five of their last six. This was uncharacteristic of SDSU, but do not expect them to stay down in 2019.

San Diego State’s Five-Year Win Trend

  • 2018 – ★★★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆ 7-6
  • 2017 – ★★★★★★★★★★☆☆☆ 10-3
  • 2016 – ★★★★★★★★★★★☆☆☆ 11-3
  • 2015 – ★★★★★★★★★★★☆☆☆ 11-3
  • 2014 – ★★★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆ 7-6

The Aztecs return a lot of personnel from last season, which will keep them in the running for the Mountain West Championship, but what will happen outside of that, specifically in Week 2 against the UCLA football team? Well, we are going to find out as Long looks to make a few interesting changes, especially on the offense.
