In addition to that, nine other Bruins received Pac-12 honors, the most out of every Pac-12 team.

2019 Pac-12 Baseball Conference Honorees

  • Coach of the Year: John Savage
  • Pitcher of the Year: Ryan Garcia
  • All-Pac-12 Team: Ryan Garcia, Ryan Kreidler, Garrett Mitchell, Holden Powell, Jack Ralston, Jack Stronach, Chase Strumpf, Michael Toglia
  • All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention: Nate Hadley
  • All-Defense Team: Garrett Mitchell
  • All-Defense Honorable Mention: Noah Cardenas

Savage has done an admirable job this year as he was able to balance a roster that had several players in and out of the lineup, but he also developed several Bruins who were playing at the top of their game all season long. This resulted in the best finish in UCLA baseball history as the Bruins boasted a 47-8 regular season record, which helped them land the no. 1 spot in the NCAA Baseball Tournament.

UCLA has had the best pitching roster in the country, and part of that has to do with Garcia who has some of the best all-around stats in the country, which he accumulated only after missing the first 12 games of the season due to a flexor inflammation. He seemed to have made a full recovery upon his return as he had a 9-0 record for the season, produced a 1.42 ERA (5th in the nation), a 0.86 WHIP (7th in the country), and only allowed 4.86 hits per nine innings (3rd in the nation).

The Bruins begin their journey in NCAA Tournament on Friday as they will host Omaha, LMU, and Baylor at Jackie Robinson Stadium in the Los Angeles Regional.
