UCLA Gymnastics’ perfect 10s at UW keep them perfect on the season
The UCLA Gymnastics team stays perfect with an 8-0 record as they take down Washington. The win was backed by perfect 10s from Katelyn Ohashi and Kyla Ross.
UCLA Gymnastics is dominating right now. The Bruins just completed a road trip that saw them get wins against Stanford, Oregon State, and just this weekend, Washington (both the Beavers and Huskies are ranked).
That has helped the Bruins get out to a quick 8-0 start on the season as they not only stay perfect in the standings but continue to have perfect performances on the floor.
On Sunday, UCLA defeated Washington by a score of 197.600-196.000. Part of the Bruins score came from perfect 10s from both Katelyn Ohashi and Kyla Ross who continue to impress in head coach Valerie Kondos Field’s last season.
Ross started the day off when she executed a 10 on the vault. It was her 10th total perfect 10, but her first on the vault. She also made her mark on the all-around event and scored a 39.775, the most in the nation this year.
Ohashi continued the perfection as she scored a 10 when it came to floor exercises. It was her first perfect 10 in that event since her first one went viral a few weeks ago. But that was not all. Ohashi also scored a 10 on the balance beam, bringing her perfect 10 total to seven in her career.
The Bruins bring their perfect record back to Westwood this weekend as UCLA is set to face the Arizona Wildcats, a team that is also ranked in the NCAA Gymnastics Top 25. If you plan to go, get there early because it is sure to sell out. Go Bruins!
