In episode 196 of the ‘What’s Bruin Show’, we take a long, hard look at UCLA basketball and what is expected for the rest of the season. We also discuss UCLA football news including recruiting and coach staff changes.

In this episode, hosts Bill Shirley, Jake Merrifield, and I talk about what has gone wrong with UCLA basketball. We also manage to sneak in some UCLA football recruiting talk.

We start off with some Go Joe Bruin Headlines as we briefly chat about UCLA gymnastics and the perfect start to their perfect season. We then look at what is going on with UCLA basketball after their epic fall in Troy. The Bruins were thoroughly embarrassed by USC last weekend and it led to some questions about what is needed for this team to come together and win some games.

In the midst of that, I give a little rant on what might be going on and how they can fix the problems that are leading to unselfish basketball.

We also managed to squeeze in a little bit of football talk as UCLA B Team host Michael Hanna joins us for an update on UCLA football recruiting as we are only a few weeks from national signing day. There are still a few targets that UCLA hopes to capture, the only question is, will they?

We also give our takes on reports coming out of Westwood that UCLA has hired Jason Kaufusi as the new outside linebackers coach and TE coach Derrick Sage becoming the new special-teams coordinator. We talk about how that will affect a part of the game that hurt the Bruins in several contests last season.
