Sons of Westwood, the team comprised of UCLA basketball alumni, have made it to the Super 16 in The Tournament after beating Albuquerque Hoops in what was essentially a repeat performance of their Saturday night win.

It was another slow start for the Sons of Westwood but they came through victorious with another second half push in The Tournament. This team that is full of former UCLA basketball players now move on to the Super 16 round in The Tournament which will take place in Atlanta in two weeks.

In only their second full game together, Sons of Westwood once again needed a little bit of time to mesh, but just like their game on Saturday, they had a few players that kept them in the game early. Jordan Adams took the reign in the first quarter as he had 11 points early. He ultimately finished with 22.

Adams was only one of two players that had a field goal in the first frame. With no other Sons able to score, this led to a small one point deficit to the Albuquerque Hoops who had an 18-17 lead.

The Hoops fought back and made a huge statement in the second quarter as they went on a 24-13 run, resulting in  a 42-30 lead at halftime. Nothing was falling for the Sons in the first half as they shot a 16/45 (35.6%). It looked as if the Sons were on their way to an early exit in The Tournament.

But once again, things changed after the break.

Gyorgy Goldman and Malcolm Lee asserted themselves and helped the Sons go on a 26-10 run in the third quarter, finally taking the lead toward the end of the third frame. At that point it was no looking back as the Sons of Westwood retained their lead for the remainder of the game.

Albuquerque had tried to fight their way back, but the Sons matched every basket the Hoops put up and finished the game with a 76-62 win for the Westwood boys.
