It was a nail-bitter during a Women’s College World Series night game as the #3 UCLA softball team mounts their second comeback in as many games as they beat #2 Florida and move on to the National Semifinals.

It was one hell of a fight, fight, fight as the UCLA softball team took out the Florida Gators in the second game of the Women’s College World Series. It was also the second time in two games that the Bruins rallied for the win after being down 4-0.

On Thursday, the Bruins overcame a that 4-0 deficit as they scored seven unanswered runs against Florida State for the 7-4 win. On Friday, they had more of a slug fest against the Gators who were not so easy to put away.

Florida had slowly added runs in the first three innings, scoring a total of four by the bottom of the 3rd. And just like Thursday night, the Bruins turned up the heat with a huge multi-run inning, in the most interesting way.

Florida’s Kelly Barnhill was solid through three innings but slightly imploded in the fourth. After a walk, hitting a batter and a wild pitch, the Bruins had runners at 2nd and 3rd. Another walk fills the bases while yet another forces a run in, giving UCLA their first run of the night.

A sacrifice fly brings in another run to make it 4-2. So with two Bruins still on base, Tayler Pack crushes one put of the yard for a three-run shot and giving UCLA the lead. In that one inning, with multiple Bruins getting on base, UCLA only had one hit. Incredible.

Things got interesting again in the 6th when UCLA’s Bubba Nickles and Florida’s Jordan Roberts each slammed one for a homer to up the socre to 6-5, Bruins. So with UCLA and Florida shutting each other out in the 7th, UCLA wins and now moves onto the National Semifinals on Sunday, giving them a day of rest as they wait to see who they face on Saturday in the elimination bracket.

This was simply a great game. Both teams would not back down on offense and defense. The Bruins and Gators combined for 10 total runs, 5 homeruns and 28 strikeouts between UCLA’s Rachel Garcia (15) and Florida’s Barnhill (13).
