Once it was announced that Chip Kelly was going to be leading the UCLA football team in 2018, recruits started looking towards Westwood more and more. One of those was a highly sought after receiver out of Oregon. His name is Chase Cota.

2017 High School Stats

Receiving Yds – 782 | Receiving TDs -12 | Yds per Reception – 17.8

It was assumed that Cota would be leaning toward committing to the Oregon Ducks next season, but that is what happens when you have a proven head coach that can not only win, but can develop and amplify the talents of his players.

That was a huge plus for Cota who was one of the first top prospects to commit to Kelly and UCLA.

Once he put his ink to the paper, he was more than ready to be a Bruin but it would come sooner than he expected, which is good for his development. Cota enrolled early at UCLA and was able to participate in the second part of spring practice. Not only did he show that he has the skills to contribute heavily, but he solidified that during the spring game when he was one of the few players to catch a touchdown pass.

Though he might not start, he will definitely get heavy minutes this fall.
