UCLA Football: Five freshmen that could see major minutes in 2018

2. OL Chris Murray, 6’3, 300 lbs.

Not only is Murray a top offensive line prospect, but because of the lack of depth in the front row, he will no doubt get a shot to play and probably collect a ton of minutes in 2018. And even if it was not for depth, Murray has the abilities and skills to fast track him on his college career.

As big as he is, he is quite the mobile individual. He has the ability to move laterally when pulled and to hold back a pass rush. He also very strong. This allows him to hold blocks and if he has the advantage with the angle and center of gravity, it often leads to him drive defenders into the ground.

What Kelly tries to do with his offense is create mismatches and use speed, this will be very important for rejuvenating the offensive line.

You have heard that many times that certain dual-threat quarterbacks are “prototypical” for Kelly’s system. Well, Murray is the prototypical offensive lineman for Kelly’s system.
