3. Look at who is taking the first team snaps

Kelly said that he’s not naming any starters at the present moment. He wants to evaluate each and every player on his team. But with four weeks in the books, there are a few players that are performing better than others, which could indicate who the favorites to start this fall should be.

For example, at the quarterback position, not only has there been a battle between Devon Modster and Matt Lynch, and some would even put Austin Burton in there (why not? he has been holding his own), but it is Modster that has been leading the first team offense the majority of spring. Though that does not mean it is his for the taking.

At running back, we should expect to see Bolu Olorunfunmi or Sos Jamabo starting, but don’t be surprised if transfer walk-on Joshua Kelly gets the nod.

This fall, the Bruins will get two more players to thicken up the depth, making this a quarterback battle royale as freshman Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Michigan grad transfer Wilton Speight join the fray.

Other positions might be a little bit more stable so it is important to see who is a potential starter for the spring game. Though the Bruins have a lot of talented freshman coming in the fall, unless someone stands out, they will most likely just add to the depth, so whoever is out on the field Saturday, could be out on the field at the Rose Bowl.
