It has been an eventful spring and there is no shortage of things to look for, but here are five things Go Joe Bruin wants you to focus on when viewing the spring game (if there is an actual game as injuries and a limited roster might force this to be a glorified practice)…
1. The pace of the game
Chip Kelly wants to go fast and we saw that this team can go fast from day one. The point of Kelly’s offense is to be well-conditioned and well-disciplined to execute his up-tempo offense. The players were doing what was asked of their coaching staff from the very start of spring practice, which means that as they got used to the tempo, they were slowly getting faster and faster.
When the offense takes the field at Drake Stadium on Saturday, watch for how quickly the offense (and defense) moves about the field. Watch for how quickly the ball is snapped. Watch for how much time is taken between plays. Take note of how quickly everyone gets back into their positions.
Are you dizzy yet? That’s the point.
The speed of the game should impress Bruin fans, but keep in mind, this is just the beginning. just imagine what this team is going to look like in the fall.
