It was announced on Sunday morning that Jim Mora has been relieved of his duties as the head coach of the UCLA Football team.

The majority of UCLA Football fans have not been happy with the direction of the program in the last two season. That has resulted in Jim Mora being fired from his position as head coach on Sunday morning with one regular season game left. This comes a day after UCLA lost to USC, 28-23. It was the Trojan’s third win in a row over the Bruins.

In the last two years, UCLA has gone 9-14. This was after Mora brought the revolution and a change of culture with 9, 10, 10 and 8 win seasons. Since that time it has been all downhill.

Mora made several questionable coaching changes that have not helped his cause. The biggest was having three different offensive coordinators in three years, which did not suit his star player, Josh Rosen.

In Mora’s time, has gone 46-30. He has only won the Pac-12 South once, had no Pac-12 Championships, no Rose Bowl Championships (not even an appearance) and no top-tier bowl wins. Mora went 2-2 in bowl games in five seasons, getting his biggest victory in the Alamo Bowl.

With a rich tradition as UCLA’s, Mora has not lived up to the standards needed to run the program.

At last week’s home game against Arizona State, fans flew banners over the Rosen Bowl with the messages, “GUERRERO 9-16 THE LAST 25 GAMES NO MORA!” and “UCLA FB 16YRS 0 ROSE BOWLS 0 CONF TITLES!”

It seems as though the message has been received as Mora is out at UCLA, effective immediately. Offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch will take over as interim head coach. The Bruins finish the regular season against Cal this Friday at the Rose Bowl. Both teams are 5-6, the the winner becomes bowl eligible.
