Know the name. It will be everywhere.

Canada has slowly been making here presence felt in Blue and Gold since her freshman season and now that she is a senior, people are starting to take notice across the country.

Canada has been named to the Nancy Lieberman Award watch list which is given to the top point guard in the country and is awarded by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. According to the HoopsHall.com site, “The award, that recognizes outstanding performance, is the first of its kind and is named after one of women basketball’s greatest players, Nancy Lieberman.”

Canada has been making waves with the Bruins ever since her first year. UCLA had missed the NCAA Tournament in 2015, but was invited to the WNIT where UCLA won six straight games to win the championship which was fueled by the freshman Canada’s 31-points against West Virginia.

The last two seasons, Canada helped the Bruins make back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances. Last year, she not only led the Bruins in scoring (17.7 ppg), she also led the Pac-12 in assists with 7.1 per game (6th in the nation).

The Bruins have a lot of talent this season and having Canada in the driver seat is going to make UCLA a very tough team to tango with. It is no wonder they are predicted to finish first in the Pac-12 and start the season ranked 8th in the nation. Go Bruins!
