The news broke Friday morning that the UCLA Football team has lost another commitment. This is the third decommit of the week and while the recruitment process will always have it’s ups and downs, this isn’t a good look for the Bruins.

Saturday morning Dayven Coleman, a three star LB/DB from Mesquite, Texas, decommited from the UCLA Football team where he would have come in with plenty of positional versatility and the potential for early playing time in a LB group that will need bodies in 2018.

Coleman is the third Bruin commit to back out of his pledge this week. While players commit and decommit almost at will before signing their National Letters of Intent, and sometimes after too, this has become a troubling trend.

The other two decommits, Jason Dickson a JUCO OT from California and Ken Montgomery a DB out of Florida, and Coleman all come on the heels of the UCLA Football loss to the Washington Huskies.

Clearly it appears that the Bruins are quickly becoming the trendy school to decommit from given the way their season has rollercoastered into a depressing state and with head coach Jim Mora on a hot seat. Of course a couple wins with what remains of the schedule and possibly getting into a bowl game might rekindle some of the UCLA love that has faded. Of course on field performances can also influence recruits.

If the UCLA Football team can come out and play well, especially without QB Josh Rosen, it could give the coaches some recruiting ammunition. A loss tonight, especially in a game where few other teams are playing, could result in more recruits abandoning ship.
