UCLA Basketball: Canada, Billings named to All-Pac-12 women’s team
The UCLA Basketball Women’s team’s senior leaders Jordin Canada and Monique Billings were named to the All-Pac-12 team.
The Women’s UCLA Basketball team is getting a lot of attention this preseason. With the Bruins returning several key starters, the team has a few eyes on them, especially two of their senior leaders.
Yesterday it was announced that point guard Jordin Canada and forward Monique Billings have been named to the preseason All-Pac-12 team. That deserves a “BOOM!”
In the last few seasons, the Bruins have been slowly coming onto the national scene. From their 2015 WNIT Championship run to making it to the Sweet 16 the last two seasons to potentially winning the Pac-12 this season, Canada and Billings have been a huge influence on UCLA’s resurgence.
Canada is an all-around player that works both ends of the court. She led the team in scoring with 17.8 ppg. She was also one of the top distributors in the conference with 7.6 assists per game. Canada also cleaned up around the glass, pulling down 5.2 rebounds.
With Canada attacking on the outside, Billings does her work in the paint, and she does it very well. Last season, Billings averaged a double-double with 16.7 points and 10.5 rebounds. With another season under her belt, watch for Billings to be a force in the Pac-12 this coming season.
