The gang is back with a new episode of the UCLA B-Team podcast. This week we discussed UCLA Football, college basketball, and even found a little time in our busy schedules to talk about some soccer.

This episode begins not with UCLA Football talk which is how Chavito likes it but with a discussion surrounding the questionable comments made by UCLA Basketball head coach Steve Alford. If you have been out of the loop the NCAA Basketball scene has been rocked by an FBI sting that found a number of teams red-handed with violations.

Steve Alford then decided, upon being questioned by the media, to essentially proclaim that UCLA has nothing to hide and that the program is clean. A move seen by some to only potentially invite trouble. The guys hash this one out amongst themselves but as always Hanna brought the fire.

Our next topic of discussion was about PAC-12 football but we weren’t to the UCLA Football Bruins just yet. ESPN and Washington head coach Chris Petersen went at it last week over comments made by Petersen that late game slots aren’t fair to his squad. Kirk Herbstreit responded with what amounted to a “you should be thanking us for coverage” troll attack.

This escalated into perhaps one of the greatest troll moments on live television when the broadcast team used literal cupcakes to describe Washington’s non-conference schedule. Of course we had to discuss if only to mention how absurd this all is.

Finally we get to the Bruins.

The UCLA Football team prepares for Arizona this Saturday but since they are coming off a bye week and there was no game to recap from this past Saturday the guys decided to conduct a fun little exercise. We gave each first year offensive coach a grade based on what we’ve seen in roughly the first half of the season.

Its an exercise we hope to flip on the defense for next week’s episode.

To wrap up this big time episode, Nathan and Hanna cut Chavito loose to try and work through Hanna’s volcano like anger at the news that the USMNT did not qualify for the World Cup being held in Russia in 2018. Be prepared for some anger.
