It’s no secret some of the best Saturday’s are spent with good food, UCLA Football and a few delicious beers. If you’re like us here at Go Joe Bruin you’re a fan of some really good craft beer from all over the United States. Here’s a few Colorado beers to pick and up and try to complete your tailgate party.

I’ll be the first to admit nothing really completes a UCLA Football game day like a couple of well crafted beers that not only make the viewing experience that much more enjoyable and can even spark lively conversations about the beer you’re drinking. However let’s go over a few things.

First and foremost remember to always drink responsibly. If you’re going to drink ensure that you have a designated driver and always make sure you consume plenty of water in between beers and don’t drink on an empty stomach.

I wanted to make this article one that inspired you to go out and find some good craft beers to buy and doesn’t tease you with unattainable beers that you can only dream about. Maybe I’m the only one who does that.

The UCLA Football program is looking to make this game a “White Out”. All Bruin fans are encouraged to show up early to the Rose Bowl and wear white. If you’re going to complete the theme you had better go with a couple “White Beers”.

A traditional Belgian Wit beer is light to medium bodied with hints of citrus and spice but is a refreshing option for day drinking and warm days. Avery Brewing does it right with their White Rascal which is true to style and has a little coriander kick on the back end. If you want something a little lighter I’d suggest trying the New Belgium Fat Tire White Ale. You might know Fat Tire as their popular Amber Ale but New Belgium has changed up their packaging in an effort to stay relevant nationally.

If Wit beers aren’t your style and you prefer to drink beers with plenty of hop qualities that pack a punch, Great Divide has the answer for you in their Hercules Double IPA available in most stores with larger craft beer selections. Or go with another Avery Brewing option in Maharaja Double IPA. New Belgium also has a line of IPA’s the Voodoo Ranger that includes a single, double and session or low alcohol IPA.

If the game starts taking a bad turn or you believe that big, bold beers are the perfect match for the cool Fall weather you typically think of during football season we have that covered too. Great Divide again comes through in the clutch with their Yeti a Russian Imperial Stout. There are many varietals of this beer including an oak aged version and one with espresso but the original is a beauty to behold. If you’re a “fall means pumpkin” kind of drinker then I’d highly recommend the Avery Brewing Rumpkin which is a rum barrel aged pumpkin ale with spices added. It comes in a single 12oz bottle but don’t let size fool you, this baby packs a punch.
