3 – Actually 2.93 but nevertheless, UCLA will need to improve as the nation’s 2nd worst in yards per rush average
Perhaps it was the loss of Rosen or the shuffling of offensive linemen due to injuries but not one UCLA running back could get it going last year. When a team’s top rusher (Jamabo) has a season total of 321 rushing yards, it’s not going to be good.
To put that in perspective, last year three players had more than 321 rushing yards in a single game including Utah’s Joe Williams against UCLA.
Not being able to average three yards a carry isn’t all on the running backs. The offensive line needs to block and open up holes or maybe it was the offense that Kennedy Polamalu ran last year.
I can only hope that new OC Jed Fisch will install an offense that will play to the strengths on his running backs and offensive line.
