UCLA Football: Bruins unveil the new Wasserman Football Center

The UCLA Football program finally has a dedicated athletic building with all of the amenities and and facilities that are common among the big boys of the college football world. The Wasserman Football Center was unveiled Tuesday with the start of camp scheduled to start Wednesday.

For many years those who supported the UCLA Football program felt the lack of a dedicated football facility was contributing to a perceived recruiting issues. While the Bruins were still able to bring plenty of talent to Westwood, there’s no doubt this gives them a bevy of ammunition on the recruiting trails.

The building, named for the Wasserman Foundation and its president, UCLA alum Casey Wasserman marks a huge accomplishment for the UCLA Football team. The $65 million dollar facility demonstrates the University’s and the donor’s commitment to the team.

As shown in the tweet below, the building houses a state of the art weight room,, meeting rooms, a gorgeous deck to watch practice from and a barber shop.

While we won’t get to see the on field results of the new Wasserman Football Center or WFC for about a month, the recruiting results seem to already be rolling in and they’re better than could be expected.

Over the weekend and continuing into Monday the UCLA Football team earned four new commitments from some of California’s best talent. DE Abdul-Malik McClain, CB Olaijah Griffin, LB Matthew Tago, WR CJ Parks all pledged to join the 2018 Bruin class and there’s a good reason for that.

Those commitments coincided with a BBQ that was hosted by the UCLA Football team on Sunday with a number of highly regarded recruits invited. Not only were the coaches able to have plenty of one on one time with the prospects but they also were able to show off the WFC and sell the program.

The early polls are in and it obviously seems like the new Wasserman Football Center is winning in a landslide. Now the goal is to maintain that momentum.
