The UCLA football team has another Bruin listed for a preseason accolade as Scott Quessenberry was named to the Rimington Trophy watch list.

The UCLA Football team has received its second preseason honor as redshirt senior center Scott Quessenberry has been named as one of 63 players listed on the prestigious Rimington Trophy watch list. Linebacker Kenny Young was recently named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list.

Per their website, The Rimington Trophy is “awarded to Division I-A college football’s most outstanding center”, so for Quessenberry to make this list is a huge deal.

Last season, Quessenberry had to take on a herculean task at the center position. Though he was poised to play guard, he moved over to center in 2016 due to concerns with depth after 4-year starter Jake Brendel moved onto the NFL.

Though it was a tough assignment and took some time to adjust, Quessenberry was able to bring some stability to a rocky offensive line that relied on his experience as the Bruins moved from a spread offense to a more power-oriented scheme.

Quessenberry started in all 12 games for the Bruins last season. His production got him noticed by the coaches of the Pac-12 as he was named as a member of the All-Pac-12 first team.

This season, Quessenberry looks to continue on that path as the Bruins try to bounce back from a disappointing 2016 season. With junior quarterback Josh Rosen back from injury, Quessenberry and “The Chosen One” will look to lead the Bruins behind the teachings of new Offensive Coordintor Jedd Fisch. Congratulations, Scotty Q!
