Though they were not selected in the NFL Draft, six former UCLA Football players have signed with NFL teams as undrafted free agents.

UPDATE: A sixth Bruin has been signed as an undrafted free agent as Randall Goforth is heading to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The NFL Draft might have ended on Saturday afternoon but that does not mean that the dream of making it to the NFL had died for a few players as five former Bruins signed contracts as free agents after the draft.

Late Saturday night, we got word that Ishmael Adams was able to make the leap to the League as he was the fifth Bruin to sign as an unrestricted free agent. Adams had a promising start to his college career but hit a bump last season in his move to receiver from cornerback. Hopefully his overall athleticism can land him a permanent spot.

Before him, DT Eli Ankou got the afternoon started for the undrafted Bruin free agents as he got the call from the Houston Texans. He was working up front with Eddie Vanderdoes last season as a defensive tackle as the Bruins improved on their run defense from the previous year.

Linebacker Deon Hollins and cornerback Marcus Rios are taking what they learned in Westwood to the Rockies as both signed with the Denver Broncos.

UCLA’s second offensive player to sign as an undrafted free agent was wide reciever Kenny Walker who is headed to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

That is ten total Bruins that have have signed contracts with NFL teams, so far.  That includes five Bruins that were taken in the NFL Draft: DE Takkarist McKinley (Atlanta Falcons), CB Fabian Moreau (Washington Redskins), DT Eddie Vanderdoes (Oakland Raiders), LB Jayon Brown (Tennessee Titans) and OT Conor McDermott (New England Patriots).

Congratulations to all that have made the next step in their football careers. To that, we here at Go Joe Bruin give you an “8 Clap”!
