UCLA Football Recruiting: 3-star RB AJ Carter Commits to UCLA

The UCLA Football team received their fourth commitment in the month of April as 3-star running back AJ Carter committed to the Bruins on Saturday night.

When recruiting gets going for the UCLA Football team, it really gets going. That has been apparent in the month of April as the Bruins just got another commitment as AJ Carter (Many, LA/Many HS) became the first running back to commit to the Bruins for the 2018 class.

The 6’0″, 220 lbs. Carter is the fourth player to commit to UCLA this month and the 7th overall to give his pledge to the 2018 class.

Carter is a big back that has good field vision and find the gaps. He has the ability to exploit holes in the line and run through them or hit the edge and run to the outside.

Though he may not have break out speed, it is good for a player of his size. On top of that, his frame makes him hard to bring down, similar to current Bruins Nate Starks and Bolu Olorunfunmi.

With the Bruins overhauling their offense this year, which includes an entirely new offensive coaching staff (sans TE Coach Rip Scherer), they have hit the ground running on the recruiting trail this year. Along with Carter, the Bruins have also locked in 3-star OT Blake McDonald and 4-star WR Kyle Philips.

If everything goes as planned, UCLA could also lock up a highly-touted QB on Sunday night.

Carter will add some talent to the depth and though he will need some developing, he should be an effect back when it is his time to hit the field. Welcome to Westwood, AJ!
