The UCLA Basketball team got their first commitment for the 2018 recruiting class as 4-star shooting guard David Singleton III is heading to Westwood.
There is more good news in terms of recruiting for the UCLA Basketball team as Head Coach Steve Alford got his first commitment for the 2018 class as 4-star SG David Singleton III (Bishop Montgomery HS/Torrance, CA) is bringing his talents to Westwood.
Per Scout.com, Singleton is the #58 overall player in his class and the #2 shooting guard in California.
One of the first things you notice about the 6’4″, 180 lbs. Singleton is his speed as he is able to sprint down court in the blink of an eye. He has excellent control of the ball and his vision on the court allows him to drive, shoot or dish the ball to an open man whilst in transition.
His speed also allows him to react quickly on the defensive end of the floor as he gets into passing lanes and can pester his opposition with his on-ball pressure. Because of that, Singleton would fit perfectly in Alford’s uptempo offense.
Alford has been doing well the last few seasons on the recruiting trail. This last season we got to see his biggest recruiting class in his tenure at UCLA as Lonzo Ball, TJ Leaf and Ike Anigbogu helped return the Bruins to the Sweet 16.
Next year, Alford brings in six players for the overall #2 class in the nation which includes two 5-star ballers, PG Jaylen Hands and SF Kris Barnes.

With Singleton committing, he continues Alford’s streak of solid recruiting classes as 2018 is already off to a great start. Welcome to Westwood, David!
