In this episode of the ‘What’s Bruin Show’, we take a look at the start of Spring Practice for the UCLA Football team and talk about what we expect heading into next season. We also recap the UCLA Basketball team and their post 2016-17 season apocalypse.

In this episode, hosts Bill Shirley, Jake Merrifield and I return from a two-week absence to talk about everything UCLA Football and Basketball, and believe us, there was a lot built up.

We get things going as we start with the UCLA Football team who is already has a week of spring ball under their belt. The Bruins are learning and adjusting to a new offense under OC Jedd Fisch and so far it has been a slow process.

One of the things that we talk about is how this offense will work for the Bruins. It has been said that Fisch’s play book is bigger than last season’s OC Kennedy Polamalu’s, so is that good thing or a bad thing? The offense took on too much with Polamalu, but with a year of experience in a more complicated system, could the Bruins easily adhere to Fisch’s plan?

On the defensive side, Defensive Coordinator Tom Bradley continues to reload and the players he has, including some very talented freshmen, will have UCLA continuing to play defense at a very high level.

We then finish with UCLA Basketball talk as the Bruins cold have up to seven players leave the program with two graduates and five players declaring for the NBA Draft. How does this affect the Bruins going forward? And what was with that LaVar Ball comment about white guys?
