The UCLA Basketball team has advanced to the winners bracket of the Wooden Legacy tournament and will participate in another late-night contest as they take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Last night, the UCLA Basketball team defeated the Portland Pilots, 99-77 behind a strong second half charge in the first round of the Wooden Legacy tournament.

The Bruins had a tough time getting things going in the first half, but luckily this team seems to know how to come together in the second half of games.

With the win, UCLA earned the right to face Nebraska in a late-night second round game.

If Nebraska is going to beat UCLA, it will have to be with defense. Last night, the Huskers edged out Dayton, despite limiting them to 38.1 percent shooting. Dayton was able to stay in the game with some outside shooting as they hit 10-of-24 from outside the arc.

The Bruins are a fast team that looks to get a lot of points from beyond the arc. The thing is, UCLA can going into scoring slumps. If Nebraska can limit the Bruins, they have a chance in this one.

Unfortunately, even if UCLA falls into a scoring slump, they will not be in it for long. The Bruins are dangerous once they get going.

This could be the toughest team UCLA faces so far, so it will be interesting how they attack Nebraska. There is no doubt the Bruins will get up and down the court at a the speed of light, but will they also limit Nebraska’s scoring opportunities with their paper-thin defense?

Prediction: UCLA 91 – Nebraska 80
