Former UCLA Football and Basketball stars Maurice Jones-Drew and Jason Kapono talked to the Petros and Money Show at the Count On Me Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament. Kapono (rightfully) claims credit for starting the NBA headband revolution and MJD retells how and why the 2006 NFL literally made him cry.

UCLA Football head coach and his wife Jim and Shannon Mora hosted the Petros and Money Show at their annual Count On Me Celebrity Golf Tournament Monday afternoon.

A gaggle of entertaining interviews always come out of the event and this year was no exception. Jim Mora joined the show first and he was followed by former UCLA greats Jason Kapono and Maurice Jones Drew.

Kapono had some very interesting things to say about the current state of the NBA; here are some of his opinions:

  • his NBA career started just a little bit early, and his skills would translate favorably in today’s shooter-friendly style play.
  • Stephen Curry will go down as the greatest shooter and perhaps the best player of all time.
  • Kapono claims credit for starting the headband trend in the NBA all the way back in 2003 during his time with the Cavs.

Listen to the Kapono interview HERE (interview starts 4 minutes in).

Maurice Jones-Drew also joined the show and treated the listeners to a retelling of his 2006 NFL Draft experience. Jones-Drew recounted the players that were taken ahead of him (including Reggie Bush, LenDale White, DeAngelo Williams and Joseph Addai) and how the tumble into the 2nd round brought him to tears.
