4. Penalties

We all know them, and we all hate them. They are penalties.  The UCLA football team has been in the bottom 15 in the nation in penalties every year Mora has been in charge.

Every year the Bruins try to work on improving, but every year we see the same thing. If UCLA wants to get away from the drive-killing mistakes that occur mid-season, then they have to start limiting them in practice.

Tbis spring, Mora has been quick to praise the efforts of his team improving on unfocused penalties (though aggressive penalties he does not mind). Mora has had referees at practice and has instructed them to not be lenient during scrimmages and to call everything they see.

Penalties have not been a huge issue this spring, though there were the occasional flags that drew ire from the Bruin coach, yet for the most part it looks like UCLA is going in the right direction. Can they keep this up, or are we in for more soul-crushing off-side calls?
