UCLA football received a huge infusion of speed on Friday, as longtime Bruin wide receiver target Damian Alloway committed to UCLA via a Bleacher Report video.

After a topsy-turvy recruitment in which UCLA and 4-star slot WR Damian Alloway (Fontana, CA/Summit) seemed to have a relationship that ran hot and cold at various points, the Bruins were finally able to land their long-time target as the speedster from the Inland Empire committed to join UCLA’s 2016 football recruiting class in a unique way:

In the Final Offensive Recruiting Big Board, we described Alloway as an absolute speedster with increasingly impressive toughness. Indeed, that is what Alloway’s addition to the squad is going to be all about at UCLA: speed, speed, and more speed.

There might not be a faster straight-line player in California in this class. The Bruins will hope to use Alloway’s speed out of the slot to burn opposing defenses deep and create subsequent spaces for short and intermediate passes once they are forced to loosen up and respect the deep ball.

Alloway is scheduled to take his official visit to UCLA this weekend, but he caused some nervous moments among Bruin fans yesterday when he tweeted out very cryptically that the visit might not proceed as planned.

However, it was merely a playful way of saying that his official visit would be postponed by a day and clearly, based on the extensive shots of Los Angeles and the production values of the Bleacher Report video, he has been planning to make his commitment to UCLA public and official for a while.

Alloway is the fifth wide receiver to commit to UCLA in this class and the Bruins will be hoping to add two more to the class in 4-star Aaron Hansford (St. John’s College/Washington, DC) and 3-star Audie Omotosho (Plano, TX/Plano East), the latter of whom is officially visiting UCLA with Alloway this weekend.

Welcome to Westwood, Damian!
