Lauren Holiday and Sydney Leroux were selected for the United Stated Women’s National Team while recent graduate Rosie White will join the National Team for her native New Zealand.

White won a championship with UCLA in 2013 and had finished her collegiate career last fall as part of a team that was #1 their entire season. Unfortunately, the Bruins lost to eventual national runner-up, the Virginia Cavaliers in the NCAA Tournament.

Hoilday is playing in her second World Cup and locks to start in the midfield for the US. She has played in nine matches this year starting all but one and leads the team with five assists. When she is not working for the Red, White and Blue, Holiday is playing for FC Kansas City in the NWSL. And did you know, she is married to former UCLA point guard Jrue Holiday? You do now.

The outgoing Leroux will be participating in her first World Cup. She is an up-and-coming forward that has a lot of potential with the USWNT and could see a few starts in the tournament. In her professional time, she plays with the Western New York Flash.

White and New Zealand play on Day 1 of the World Cup against the Netherlands in Group A action at Commonwelath Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta at 6 p.m. PT.

Holiday, Leroux and the USWNT play on Day 3 against Australia in Group D action. The game will be played at Winnipeg Stadium on Monday, June 8 at 4:30 p.m. PT.
