It is official… UCLA’s freshman phenom Kevon Looney is declaring for the NBA draft after one season in Westwood. Last week there was speculation that Looney was shopping around for an agent. Well it is now confirmed that Looney will be foregoing the rest of his eligibility as he is projected to be a lottery pick, by certain experts.

Looney was the only Bruin to average close to a double-double this season as he had 11. 6 points and 9.s rebounds (2nd in the Pac-12 Conference) per game. He also lead all freshmen in the nation with 15 total double-doubles.

Looney had also received All-Pac-12 second team honors as well as was named to the All-Pac-12 Freshman team.

UCLABruins.com quoted Looney saying, “This was a really tough decision for me because there were so many positives both ways. My time at UCLA has been unbelievable and I know I’ll be a Bruin forever.”

With this early exit, the Bruins lose both Looney and graduating senior Norman Powell, 2 of the Bruin’s top three scorers.

Congratulations and thank you, Kevon! Good luck in the NBA (and we hope the Lakers get you!).
