The UCLA Women’s Basketball team are one step away from a championship season! After beating the Michigan Wolverines 69-65 in Ann Arbor in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament semifinals, the Bruins are set to face West Virginia in the Championship Game. The WNIT final will be played on Saturday April 4 at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, West Virginia and televised on the CBS Sports Network.

The Bruins were lead by sophomore Kori Korver who had 21 points behind 5-for-7 three-point shooting and set a new single-season record. Corinne Costa also set a single-season record as her five blocks totaled 55 on the year. Freshmen Jordin Canada and junior Nirra Fields also contributed 14 and 13 points respectively.

UCLA has beaten Cal State BakersfieldSan DiegoNorthern ColoradoSt. Mary’s and now Michigan, all by an average of 11 points.

West Virginia had the same path as UCLA. A subpar season that has lead their team to a fiery post-season run. The Mountaineer ladies had defeated Temple 66-58 in their WNIT semifinal contest behind two big scorers, Averee Fields and Bria Holmes.

Needless to say, this will be a huge victory for the Bruin ladies if they can end their season on a win, as champions no less. With that being said…

Go Bruins!
