2014 Recap

UCLA Bruins
Brett Hundley locked himself into UCLA football history during the 2014 season. Not only did he become the all-time leader in passing touchdowns, but also the all-time leader in total offensive yards. In 2014, he led UCLA to their third straight 9-win season (first in UCLA history) and got them back-to-back 10-win seasons, the first time that has happened since the 1997 and 1998 seasons.
Hundley did have a scare in the third game of the season when he landed awkwardly on his left arm (his non-throwing arm) against Texas. Luckily the Bruins had a bye the following week, which gave him an extra week to rest what turned out to be a hyper-extended elbow. Hundley had to wear a heavy brace on that arm for the next few weeks, but it did not seem to slow him down. In his next game against Arizona State,  he threw for 355 yards and 4 touchdowns en route to a 62-27 victory.
Though Hundley and UCLA were unable to capture the Pac-12 South in the final game of the regular season with a loss to Stanford, they were able to defeat #11 Kansas State 40-35 in the Valero Alamo Bowl.

Hundley has proved to be the dual-threat quarterback everyone expected from his first snap as a Bruin… which coincidently, was a 72-yard touchdown run against the Rice Owls back in 2012. Since then he has been killing defenses with both his arm and his legs.
As a runner, there is no doubt that he can make some pretty impressive moves and escape the opposition, which might lead some to believe he is better in the run than throwing. But as for his passing game, he definitely has a strong arm and is fairly accurate.
What He Needs To Work On
The biggest ting that stands out about Hundley is his decision making. Though it has improved every year he was in Westwood, last season he would still hold onto the ball longer than needed as he would lock-in on his primary receiver rather than looking for his second, third or fourth option. Also, Hundley occasionally had the odd game were his accuracy is completely off. Whether he is throwing it short or way over the head of his receiver, one thing he needs to improve on is the accuracy of his throws.
Outlook
The NFL is a passing league and Hundley needs to prove that he can get the job done consistently with his arm, though that does not mean he will be overlooked because of it. Several teams like Seattle and Philadelphia have offenses suited for his talents (not to say those are key destinations) as a runner and a thrower. Though he could lead a team in his rookie year if needed, realistically, it might be a year or two before Hundley sees playing time which would be perfect as he develops his skills for the professional ranks.
