UCLA The New Hip-Hop Mecca Of Football? P. Diddy And Snoop Dogg Both Have Sons Going To UCLA

So is UCLA the new Hip-Hop Mecca? No, not really. Though UCLA has fantastic Music and Musicology programs, it is still just the greatest University in the world. We will survive. The thing about it now is in regards to UCLA Football vastly improving over the last few years, it has atracted a couple princes of Hip-Hop royalty as the sons of P. Diddy and Snoop Dogg will be playing ball together at UCLA.

A few years ago, Justin Combs, son of rap mogul Sean Combs (aka P. Diddy/Puff Daddy/Enter Your Own Name) had committed to the Bruins (he has just completed his redshirt sophomore season as a defensive back). Today, Cordell Broadus, son of the famed Snoop Dogg, gave his commitment to the blue and gold and signed his National Letter of Intent to play football as a wide receiver for the Bruins for the next 3-4 years. That is the Bruin Revolution.

It is not so much that UCLA football is attracting hip-hop culture, but more like UCLA football is becoming more and more attractive to the best recruits out there, some of which happen to be immersed in hip-hop culture.

Because of what head coach Jim Mora has done with the football program since he got to Westwood four years ago, he is luring a lot more top quality football players as we saw on National Signing Day. The Bruins snagged #1 QB Josh Rosen, #1 RB Soso Jamabo, #1 TE Chris Clark and #1 C Fred Ulu-Perry. That is just the start! Snagging 4-star WR Cordell Broadus adds to the many great players the Bruins were able to sign on NSD. It is especially key since UCLA lost two WRs early in the day.

So even though it may seem like UCLA has enticed the likes of hip-hop royalty, it is still just the school on the rolling hills of Westwood. It is just that now it has a football team that is an upgrade from what it was a few years ago. Still, it does not hurt to have the likes of hip-hop royalty on your side, especially when a few proper donations could help out the football program and the Athletic Department!

Go Bruins!
