UCLA Football Is #10 In The Final AP Poll, From #7 To Unranked To Top Ten

With the college football season ending after the Ohio State Buckeyes dismantled the Oregon Ducks for the National Championship, the final AP Poll has come out and it is good news for the UCLA football team as they finish 10th in the long-running (and possibly obsolete) poll. After a big season that was capped off by a 40-35 win over Kansas State in Valero Alamo Bowl, the Bruins (10-3, 6-3) have been official dubbed as one of the ten best teams in the country.

With this, it is proof that the UCLA Bruins not only had a successful season, but they are also one of the Top Ten teams in the nation.

Though expectations were higher for UCLA as they started the year ranked #7 in the Preseason AP Poll, the Bruins went through a roller coaster of a season that was marred by two big back-to-back losses mid-season to Utah and then Oregon which saw them completely drop out of the poll in Week 8. But a five-game win streak that was highlighted by big wins over Arizona, Washington and USC brought them back into the national spotlight.

Unfortunately, a loss to Stanford in their regular season finale had crushed any hope of getting back to the Pac-12 Championship Game for the third time in four years. With that, all hope of being placed in one of the prominent New Year’s Day Six bowls was lost, though they were selected to go to the Alamo Bowl, which many perceived to be the best bowl outside of those six.

In that bowl game, they had destroyed a very good #11 Kansas State football team in the first half and did just enough to quell a mighty second-half comeback by the Wildcats for the win.

No matter how you look at it, some will say that this season was not a success and to that we say “SCOREBOARD!” or more appropriately, “POLL BOARD!”

Congratulations Bruins!
