UCLA Bruins
In Episode 51, hosts Bill Shirley, Jake Merrifield and I are joined by very special guest and a man that Jake has been wanting to have on the show for quite sometime, “The Godfather of Sports Trivia” Jim Bendat. You will be amazed by the wealth of knowledge this gentleman brings to the show as he discusses with us anything and everything UCLA sports. He is one true Bruin!
With that, the four of us start off the conversation by talking about UCLA football’s epic 40-35 win over Kansas State in Valero Alamo Bowl. It was a blockbuster first half followed by a hair-pulling second, but the Bruins held off a big Wildcat comeback for one of the biggest wins of the season. We get into what was good in the game and what was not.
Then we get into the controversy that happened at the end of the game… HANDSHAKEGATE!!!
Was UCLA head coach Jim Mora right or wrong? Was K-State head coach Bill Snyder right or wrong? YOU DECIDE!
We then follow that up with a look ahead as we preview the 2015 season and make way-too-early predictions.
We then talk about basketball, but not too much.
To finish off, Bill leads the conversation, with much glee, about Oregon being the Pac-12 representative in the inaugural College Football Playoff’s Championship Game. Needless to say, he had a huge smile throughout the whole thing.
