What a day for UCLA Athletics! UCLA Men’s Soccer, Women’s Volleyball and Men’s Water Polo have all advanced to the next round of their respective playoffs. It was an exciting day that started with Men’s Water Polo advanced to the championship game of their tournament, followed by Men’s Soccer making their Final Four and ending with Women’s Volleyball heading to the Louisville Regional in their NCAA tourney. It was definitely a big day for Bruins.
It never stops at UCLA.

The Bruin’s played their first game in the six-team NCAA Men’s Water Polo tournament against UC San Diego Tritons and promptly annihilated them, 15-6 in a rout. Despite the game being played in the Triton’s own backyard, UCLA had complete control every step of the way. They will next meet #3 USC who needed sudden-death overtime to beat #2 Stanford 12-11.
This will be the fifth time this season the Bruins and Trojans will meet with UCLA taking three of the four games already played. This may seem like UCLA has the upper hand, but USC has an edge of their own. The Trojans enter into their tenth consecutive title match while capturing the last six national titles. Needless to say, we have a ball game.

UCLA Men’s Soccer
UCLA had an early lead in this one, but needed extra time to defeat North Carolina in eight rounds of a shoot-out after a 3-3 tie.
The Bruins had UNC on their heel’s for the majority of the match. UCLA had a 3-1 lead in the middle of the second half, but after that, the Tar Heels scored two goals within a minute, which forced the game to go to extra time. UNC and UCLA had traded blows through two sudden-death overtimes, but neither could capture that golden goal.
It was then off to a shoot out where the Bruins stumbled early, but ended with a trip to Cary, North Carolina and the Final Four.

UCLA Women’s Volleyball
The Bruins hosted the first two rounds of the NCAA Women’s Volleyball tournament at Pauley Pavilion. On Friday night, UCLA had caused LIU Brooklyn to take an early exit in the tournament after sweeping them in three sets (27-25, 25-15, 25-14).
On Saturday, the Bruins continued to blaze a trail in their NCAA Tournament after missing last season’s completely. UCLA once again swept the opposition in three sets as the Bruins ran through Long Beach State (27-25, 25-15, 25-14). The Bruins now head to Louisville, Kentucky to face Penn State in the Regional Semifinals.
