  • Harvard is the Ivy League Champions and boasts an 11-4-2 record, going 5-1-1 in conference. Against CCSU, the Crimson had two players that doubled up on goals as Margaret Purce and Emily Mosbacher led Harvard in scoring. The entire team had fifteen shots on goal and only allowed five, which sounds very similar to the Bruin’s first round win against San Diego.

In UCLA’s 5-0 win, they were all about possession. San Diego had 3 shots on goal, all by one player. UCLA spread their possession out a lot more as nine Bruins tallied a SOG as five players found the back of the net. Abby Dahlkemper, Kylie McCarthy, Sam Mewis, Taylor Smith and Rosie White all scored a goal in the first round game and quite impressively I might add.

Taylor in particular had a shot from just outside the top of the penalty box to make it 3-0 nt he first half. The impressive thing about that laser of a shot is that she first dribbled through three defenders with Ronaldo-like ball-handling skills to get open from a beautifully placed through ball. To add to the Bruin’s good fortune, goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland became the all-time NCAA leader in shutouts as she got her 53rd in the win against San Diego.

The game will be preceded by another second round match up as #4 Pepperdine plays against Illinois State. The winner of this match will face the UCLA/Harvard winner on Sunday at UCLA.
