UCLA’s ‘L.A. Steel’ To Debut November 1

UCLA has apparently set a date to show off their alternate uniforms for this season. For their November 1 contest against Arizona, UCLA Athletics tweeted out that L.A. Steel is coming for this year’s homecoming game. A time still has not been set, but hopefully this means a later kick-off to go with the atmospheric aesthetic of the campaign.

This year’s alternate unis are a smoky gray off-shoot of last year’s ‘L.A. Midnight’. The sleek design of the gray base is accentuated by shiny blue and gold trim that makes the uniform stand out.

Another great design of the uniforms has to do with the helmet (sans the logo) being all one color, including the face mask. Last year’s L.A. Midnight unis had a black helmet with a mustard yellow face mask. This year, it is all ‘steel’. As you can see, it will definitely set a certain tone for the game against Arizona.

Although, right now UCLA football might not be completely focused on what they look like for their next home game as they have two home losses and a very tough conference schedule remaining. The Bruins just beat Cal in Berkeley for the first time since 1998 and are 2-2 in conference with an overall 5-2 record. UCLA is now 4-0 on the road for the season, but at home, the Bruins are an abysmal 1-2. Will homecoming and L.A. Steel be good for their chances? Let us hope the Bruins have the steel mentality and dominate the Wildcats.
