It is finally time for UCLA Vs Texas. What was billed as a huge game in the preseason, lost its luster in the last two weeks since college football started. Still, a nationally televised game at AT&T Stadium, aka Jerry Dome, in Arlington, Texas just outside of Dallas is a big deal no matter how you slice it.
We are going to keep this one short and sweet because really, there is only one thing UCLA needs to do.
Be consistent.

Betsided
We already know that UCLA has a good defense as we saw in the 28-20 win over Virginia. The Bruins scored three defensive touchdowns off of two interceptions and forced fumble all in the second quarter. Against Memphis, the Bruins looked confused and out of place at times, especially the heralded linebacking crew. The Bruins were looking for something in particular with the Tiger offense and found out that Memphis was running things they had not seen at all and thus, did not practice against it.
The Bruins have to be smarter in this game. Expect the unexpected. Texas may not show a lot, especially with the second string QB Tyrone Swoopes in the game, but it does not mean they do not have something up their sleeve. Texas coach Charlie Strong is a good coach that will have Texas back, although it will take time. But for right now, if he catches the Bruins sleeping, the Longhorns could surprise the bruins.
As for offense, the Bruins had a heck of a time trying to get by the aggressive Virginia front line as the Bruin offensive line was pushed around the entire game. Last week, Jake Brendel had returned to solidify the line which helped immensely against Memphis. With Brett Hundley having enough time to work in the pocket, he accumulated 396 passing yards and 3 TDs. I suspect the offense to continue this type of play, especially against the Texas D which is currently, ‘under construction’.
So that is it. The UCLA offense is good. The UCLA defense is good. Now if they can just be good together, then they can make a case for properly being a Top 10 team.
Go Bruins!
