The Bruins got a little thicker on the defensive line as 6’4′, 230 lbs. defensive lineman, Takkarist McKinley committed to the Bruins today. The 4-star rated junior college transfer was intending to go to Cal, but opted for another type of Blue and Gold, that of UCLA. The icing on the cake? He is eligible to play immediately.
McKinley will enroll in UCLA next week as the University’s academic quarter system does not start until the end of the month.
McKinley comes from Contra Costa Community College in San Pablo, California and is hailed as one of the top defensive ends and pass rushers in the nation. With McKinley immediately able to help the Bruins, the defensive line not only gets a bit deeper, but adds some quality talent. McKinley did not qualify for Cal a few years ago, leading him to Contra Costa. Now, he is a Bruin.
Welcome to Westwood, Takk!
Go Bruins!
