Aug 30, 2014; Charlottesville, VA, USA; UCLA Bruins head coach Jim Mora gestures on the field prior to the Bruins
The Bruin Faithful have been waiting for UCLA Vs Virginia for quite a while and though it was an exciting build up to finally watching the #7 team in the nation, the game itself was less than Bruin fans expected. UCLA escaped Virginia with a 28-20 and it was pretty much because of the defense. The UCLA D capitalized on three Cavalier turnovers for three touchdowns. The offense behind Brett Hundley was only able to get one touchdown, which is okay, but not for a team with big postseason hopes.
Still, here is what Twitter had to say about UCLA vs Virginia:
The offensive line woes.
UCLA O-line has struggled immensely early. No push in run game and Hundley has been pressured regularly

Semi-serious question: would UCLA's defensive line do better than UCLA's offensive line if they played on O?

This ucla center is getting toasted! JAKE BRENDEL WHERE ARE YOU?!
— Chris-Chin 4sUP (@chrispychriscat) August 30, 2014
Receivers dropping passes. So many passes.
Too many drops Fellas. @gojoebruinucla

If it hits you in the face, YOU GOTTA CATCH THE BALL!

CATCH

THE
BALL
A dropped ball and poor pass protection costs UCLA another drive. Offense has not looked good at all thus far. #UCLAvsUVa

Hundley unable to get the offense going. Aside from one TD, there really was not much to be glad about on the offensive side.
And there's another sack. 3rd and 17 for UCLA.
— Daily Bruin Sports (@DBSports) August 30, 2014
Brett Hundley not getting a ton of help today. UCLA has been in 3rd and long frequently.
— Jordan Lee (@jordantlee) August 30, 2014
I wish for our offense to not blow this time please
— Kelly (@kellyhunnybunny) August 30, 2014
Our defense is better then people think. And Our offense isn't awake yet. Just wait til they wake up...
— Liam (@Blutman27) August 30, 2014
But how about that Big Bruin D! Three defensive TDs! It looks like the defense played more offense than the, well, offense.
That defense is our 1 bright spot. Saving the Bruins right now. Good 2 runs by Perkins though. 0-0, end of 1. UCLA ball on UVA 44. 1st down

For #UCLA, Ish Adams is doing some nasty ish.
— Brian Murphy (@knbrmurph) August 30, 2014
Shoutout to UCLA outside backer Deon Hollins for getting into Virginia QB's face to help force that earlier INT6.
— Emilio Ronquillo (@LCoastOffense) August 30, 2014
TOUCHDOWN UCLA! Eric Kendricks with a pick six for UCLA's 3rd defensive TD of the quarter. 37-yard INT return gives UCLA a 21-3 lead.

Sure the Bruins have a lot to work on before next week, but this is the first game. You can count on Jim Mora to make the appropriate changes that will be need to be addressed. The O-line, the catches, the execution. There is time to fix all that. But for now, the Bruins have a “W” and are 1-0 so far this season.
Go Bruins!
