Defensive Backs

One year ago, the DBs were agreed upon by many to be the Bruins weakness unit after having to replace all four starters. The DBs in turn, showed the nation that they are nothing to be messed with. UCLA finished third in the Pac-12 for passing yards allowed with 217.7 per game. The defensive backs had a big part in that.

  • The four guys that are slated to start in the secondary are CB Ishmael Adams, S Randall Goforth, S Anthony Jefferson and CB Fabian Moreau. All of them were part of the top ten tacklers for the Bruins last year with Jefferson and Goforth third and fourth on the team, respectively. Adams was not only the team leader in interceptions (4 for 52 yards) but was also huge as a kick returner late last season.

As for Moreau, since the end of last season, he has been one of the more highly praised Bruins pegged to have a stellar season. Head coach Jim Mora had even hinted at him being an NFL Draft pick. While that is yet to be seen, Moreau has been on lockdown in fall camp. Play after play, he would give the Bruin offense hell as he was a beast in coverage, swatting, smashing and grabbing at anything that came his way. Opposing offenses will only dare to throw the ball his way.

Additionally, the Bruins have are in the secondary and will be offer guys like Tahaan Goodman and Priest Willis to not only shine, but make their mark on the Bruin D.
