Day Five of UCLA fall camp was that first day in pads and guess who was there? Go Joe Bruin was. It was a hot one in San Bernadino today and the team came to play in a full squad scrimmage, where the defense held the advantage. It looked like there was one serious injury today and a few key guys did not participate. For the most part, it was just another normal day in fall camp.

A quick injury update. WR Sam Handler appeared to land wrong on his leg and was not able to put weight on it. No word yet on the extent of the injury. Up front LT Malcolm Bunche did not practice and Alex Redmond missed his second straight practice. Freshman linebacker Zach Whitley was seen walking around with a neck brace, which is, obviously, never good to see. WR/TE Thomas Duarte and RB Jordon James both missed practice today as well.
Injuries for UCLA up front: Alex Redmond missed practice again -- his second in a row. And left tackle Malcolm Bunche was also held out.

Just saw Zach Whitley walking out in a neck brace. Pretty indicative of his status, I'd say.

Thomas Duarte was held out again with his hamstring issue, which led the way for Jordan Payton to shift in to Y receiver again. Intriguing.

Running back Jordon James didn't do much today, presumably because of the hamstring issue that Mora mentioned yesterday. Perkins again No. 1

The defense looks great out there and the unit is making plays all over the field.
The defense is swarming. 2 or more guys on every tackle.

One of the best hits was Kendricks with an open field diving tackle that knocked the receiver back a few yards.

Massington had a strong day, hauled in a couple deep balls, including a nice jump ball down the seam.
